We had the talent show today. It was very fun watching people do their acts. Derek presented a talking puppet. It was very cool to watch it.
We played air hockey, it was very fun but I lost a lot at the game. - Andrew Darrell's Diner is always a favorite activity for our Social Groups. Our two Friday groups went to Darrell's recently and had a blast! Great food, friends and as you can see from the picture games too!
- Yevonne Thursday Social Group participants enjoyed an evening decorating holiday cookies, which were made by Iain, a Social Group participant who runs his own small business making delicious gluten free baked goods.
The group also created holiday cards for their families and friends. Allistair, a Social Group participant who runs his own small business selling greetings card, was happy to share his skills to support other group members create their own cards. If you are interested in learning more about Iain's baked goods please check out his Facebook page: Iain's Incredible Edibles. If you are interested in learning about Allistair's cards please email: [email protected] GivingTuesday is a global day of giving, that many organizations throughout Canada take part in. Our Social Group participants and volunteers were eager to help out for the December 1 event.
Autism Nova Scotia's Social Group participants and volunteers were excited to be a part of this year's Parade of Lights, for the first time.
The rain didn't wash away any of our smiles at last weekend's Parade of Lights. It was truly a remarkable evening and we are so proud of the participants who shined bright through the rain. Humbled to live in a community who whistles and cheers as our group walked by and made the participants feel like the superheroes they truly are. To end off the night, a participant thanked our Program Director Yevonne Le Lacheur by saying, "This was the best day of my life. I've never been in a parade and never thought I would." This year during our Halloween Party participants had the opportunity to travel back in time and enter Mr. Worthington's Haunted Laboratory... See pictures of the eerie transformation below: Before: After: The Haunted Laboratory was sensory based, with lots of things to touch ("tarantula legs, werewolf fur, feathers of the cow, vampire "brains and guts") and smell (vampire poison).
